In this day and age, there are so many different types of informational systems out there, because time has lead man and woman to a new age and a whole new breed of technological advancements. With so many advancements there are also so many jobs in this day and age. About 144,000 people have full time positions worldwide at the American company Microsoft. There isn’t just Microsoft, there are so many other company’s like Sony, Apple, Intel, IBM, Google, etc… Some of the jobs you can get that are directly related to an informational systems major include, application analysts, cyber security analyst, data scientists/analysts, information systems manager, and many more great jobs. Informational systems majors have a lot of jobs to choose from when they are graduated from college. These jobs pay very well too if you et the right job. According to the National Association of College and Employers, “Management Information Systems Majors earned the top average starting salary with about 60,000.
Most IS majors who graduate would try and get a job clearly in their industry, and at that job they would study the company’s computer databases, networks, computer security and more. With an Information Systems major, you can go very high up in some companies and actually make a difference with helping people. You could have a first job as a simple computer operator, but climb all the way to a systems manager.
The average salary for a systems manager is a whopping six figure amount. The pay for a information systems major is very high, and going to college and getting your degree can and will be very rewarding for you rand many other people you help with your work in the future.
There are some advantages and disadvantages of being an information systems major. Sometimes the dis-advantages outweigh the advantages.
Some advantages of information systems is communication in the sense that the instant messaging systems such as e-mail or text or call, have become quicker, more efficient, and less expensive. one of the biggest advantages of information systems is the creation of new interesting jobs. Information Systems majors can have any of the jobs that I listed above and even more. One more advantage of many is that informational systems can help run any company better, and more efficient.
Some dis-advantages of information systems are the actual advances in technology because the computers are literally taking over and replacing what the human workers could do and it leads to unemployment. There are security issues as well because humans are un hackable, however the computers are. Hackers and thieves can gain access to their databases and steal their information or tamper with it.
